Legal age for marriage in 1871

Hi all. Wondering what the legal age for marriage was in 1871 only i have found that in the in the cesus for that year, my gg grandfather has a son in law aged 13,which his 11year old daughter is married to, (mind blowing how mistakes happen) Jan |
