You could scan the image + take/send it! Sounds like some-one has their wires crossed . I 'd certainly try them or local registry again.

Unfortunately, it is London...... so they send you to the GRO !!!

Sometimes the GRO do get their wires crossed, a divorce would make no difference. If you are postive you have given the correct Vol & page number then try applying locally, to the register office in the town in which they married. Sam

Yep, I doubled checked everything ( I saved the image thankfully !! ) so I am at a loss myself why they can't find it. Andrea

I can't imagine the entry would disappear because they were divorced Andrea!...Did you give the GRO all the ref numbers? It seems very odd that it was on 1837 but not GRO.

I have been plodding on with my Grandmother's side of the family, no major problems. So thought I would start on my Grandfather's side....... and have fallen at the first hurdle ! My Grandparents divorced after WWII, and my mother hasn't seen her father since, all I knew was his name and when he married my Grandmother....... Great, no problems ( I thought !!) I found the reference for the marriage on 1837online, and it confirmed the month and year my mother had said. So sent for the certificate. So why have just had an email from the GRO saying there cannot find the entry with the info I've given ? Does it make any difference that they were divorced ? Would this cause the entry to 'disappear' ? I am truly baffled !! Where can I go from here. It feels like I will never find out about my Grandfather. Andrea :o(
