The actual names of the doner would not be available to public record unless spasificly done so or agreed by the family of doner. The event might be found on a 'ON THIS DAY' site or the history of the 20th cent. TV and news paper archives or archived copies of Lancet the medical paper.

I had a look around and found that the first kidney transplant from a donor killed in an accident was in 1965. I think the surgeons may have been Calne and Murray. My husband will be home later and I should be able to get him to find some more information on it for you. Abigail

Anyone got any ideas as to where I can find out about medical events? Apparently one of my relatives was the first child kidney (or possibly liver) donor in the UK after he died in a road traffic accident. Event apparentely occurred in the 1960's and as it was the first one to involve a young child (he was only 3 or 4) then I would assume it would be recorded somewhere. Did try a quick google but could not find anything of immediate use. Karen
