It is possible that they were also recorded at their normal address, if that was different. Shouldn't really happen, but it did sometimes.

In short: yes. The relationship to the head would be shown as 'Visitor', unless they were related.

They were supposed to enter every one present in the house on the night of the census, so yes visitors ought to be listed. They might be shown by their relationship - aunt, cousin whatever or they might be listed as visitor in the relationship column. One of mine is on the census twice because his parents have(presumably mistakenly) listed him at home but he is also in his grand fathers household as visitor.

Easy answer - yes, they should have been. Everyone should (and I stress should - it wasn't always recorded correctly!) have been registered at the place they were staying on the night of the census. Regards Ellen.

If they were at that address on the night of the census they should be listed, and relationship to head of household would probably say 'visitor' but sometimes the actual relationship would be given such as 'cousin' or whatever.

Right i am not very gifted at all this. In the 1901 census would someone have been listed as living at an address even if they were just a visitor??
