Peter - thanks, but if the British Library doesn't have it in the catalogue I doubt whether a bookshop could find it. As I understand it (?!) the British Library should have a record (and indeed a copy) of every book published in the UK. That's why I think it may be a pamphlet.

Hi there, I just checked out Tempus Publishing on google which is a terrific site for local history publications. This was on there: 'Hats Off” to Wilton Street by the Denton Local History Society The area, now named Crown Point North and lying between Ashton Road, the motorway and Taylor Lane, used to be the hub of the hatting industry of Denton, based on Wilton street. This book records that area in photographs, personal memories and descriptions of homes and buildings and their use. It brings to life residents, who worked in or owned the hat works and other businesses, attended Russell Scott School and Wilton Street Unitarian Chapel and socialised at the corner shops, the two local cinemas and the “Gentlemen's Club ”. It looks like it is produced by the Local History Society, so you could contact them to see if there is a copy. I think it said £5.95

'Hats off to Denton', author unknown, about the Denton hat trade. Have searched Abebooks.co.uk, which is supposed to be world's largest online marketplace for books. Have also searched the British Library Integrated Catalogue, which finds only 'The Rules of the Amalgamated Felt Hat Trimmer’s [sic] and Wool Formers’ Association. Commenced at Denton July 1886. Amended May 1893'. I guess it could just be a booklet/pamphlet. A long shot for sure, but has anyone heard of it?
