can anyone help please, looking for Fathers christian name of Ellen Edwards, who was born in 1872,in Liverpool, anyone who has access to the 1861 census could maybe help. her Mothers name was Ann maiden name unknown, Children Thomas born1859 Liverpool Richard born 1868 Liverpool Ellen born 1872 Liverpool

Looks like you will have to buy her birth certificate unless you can find her parents' marriage. Edwards is a fairly common name, so I would imagine this could be difficult to find.

Guess you have them in 1881 - no Father present. 1871 - she is head, with whose brother Thomas - is it a brother ? Given the eldest son is also Thomas .... 1871 England Census Viewing records 1-4 of 4 matches Name Age in 1871 Birthplace Relationship Civil Parish County/Island Ann Edwards 34 Liverpool, Lancashire, England Head Liverpool Lancashire Richard Edwards 3 Liverpool, Lancashire, England Son Liverpool Lancashire Thomas Edwards 32 Liverpool, Lancashire, England Brother Liverpool Lancashire Thomas Edwards 12 Liverpool, Lancashire, England Son Liverpool Lancashire You are right - an 1861 view would clinch it.... Thomas b1859 should pin it down ...

In theory he should be brother of the head, who is mum. Do you know she was married?
