Becuse of the new law on the freedom of infomation act I Think you are intiteled to see your File from when in care. There should be lots of info in that But check you can do it first As I have no pos proof its posable, I just know you can do it with medical files ( another pos way of checking)

Hi Peter, I'm not sure if you've 'reunited' with either of your parents, if not, & if you're wishing to try to locate them you may want to contact 1 of the several people on GR who have current (e.g 2004) UK electoral rolls. I can recommend this personally as I've now been in touch with my father after some 29+years after some kind soul gave me a list of possibles throughout the UK. I started at the most likeliest match & wrote. You may have to be prepared for many episodes of letter writing & lots of rejection letters nut my advice is not to give up. Good luck with your research. Kind Regards....Zoe, NZ

Hello, I'm peter a complete novice and taking my first tentative steps on this journey. I'm looking to find my ancestory and from a disadvantaged position of having been brought up in care. I have very little information ( currently only my birth certificate) to work from and would be grateful for pointers to how to start on this voyage of discovery. I'm looking to all you wise and skilled individuals for direction and guidance, before this whole thing overwhelms me and I head for the hills and abandon what I hope to be a rewarding journey finally allowing me to plant my flag somewhere. With Thanks. Peter
