Thank you all for your help and suggestions. I'm clearly in the right area, but it would seem that the road in question no longer exists as it did back then. I will take your advice and call Peckham Library to see if they can shed any more light. Juliana Thank you for the offer to take a look for me - that's really kind of you. I have some other addresses in the area which may still be standing (well, the roads are at least!), so now that I know I'm in the right area, I might take a trip up there one weekend to have a nose around. Thanks again everyone Lesley

Hi Lesley, Ive just had a check in a 2004 map and your both right - they show Stanton St, now looks like Jocelyn St. I live about 5 minutes from Peckham, if you would like me to, I dont mind having a check for you - probably be at the weekend - let me know. Ju xxxx

Hi, I lived in Peckham for years but didn't know Stanton St. However, I checked an old London AZ from c. 1990 and it was just north of Peckham High St. Looking at new maps it was more or less where Jocelyn St now is, so you are looking in the right area. There used to be big post war council blocks in that area which have, fairly recently, been demolished and new housing put in. I guess this is why the roads have changed. I'm not sure what the housing would have been like when you rellies were there but Peckham library is fab and well worth a ring if you want information. Louise

Is there anyone out there that either lives or works in Camberwell that can help. I have a family that lived in Stanton Street (Peckham/Camberwell) in both 1891 and 1901 censuses and I have a marriage certificate from 1925 which quotes that road as well. I am trying to find out whether the road still exists and if so where, but am having a bit of difficulty. Southwark council (that covers the area) have no record of Stanton Street, nor do the post office, but a search on Multimap and several other streetmap sites recognises Stanton street, but seems to put it where Jocelyn Street is now. Is there anyone local to this area that can help? Anyone recognise this street name? Thanks very much, Lesley
