How confident are you of the IRVING? I had a look on the Durham BMD site and found this pairing Search Results From Marriages 1891 to 1900 Details of your chosen Marriage certificate (including spouse) are as follows: Surname Forename(s) Year District POTTS John 1891 Durham Central IRWIN Hannah 1891 Durham Central On the other hand, Hannah would be a very late child if these were her parents, and she was born 1917. You can find the Durham site - along with other Local BMD sites via UKBMD.org.uk Christine

Hannah Potts was her maiden name. I know her father was John Potts and her mothers maiden name is Irving (dont know her christian name) and she was born in Chester Le Street.

Yor said you have sent off for her birth certificate. this will have her parents names and place of birth. is Potts her maiden name or married name? this is something else to think about. Many people will tell you on here, they have search fro relatives under a name for months, suddenly they find out that the relative was called something completely different. also, many people used their second names as their first as well. I have an Elizabeth noble on 2 census, she doesn't exist anywhere other than that as far as i can find. But! I have a sarah Lilian who should have been on both census Elizabeth was on but she isn't. there is also a 3 year difference in age. Work that one out lol, it's been driving me nuts for months :s. Maria :)

Hi Whilst tracing my fathers side of the family - I discovered on a Hannah Potts which I think is my aunt. She was born in Chester Le Street and her mothers maiden name is Irving. I have sent off for a copy of her birth certificate along with a copy of my fathers. My father never spoke of a sister called Hannah and I thought at first she may have died young. However, I have tried to search for her death with no success. Is there any way that I can search for any more information? I am curious about Hannah as I have never heard of her but dont want to mention it to my sister until I know more about her!! Both my mum and dad are dead and I have very little information. Hopin you can help Christina
