Hello Loz Olney is a very small town just outside Milton Keynes. A useful website is www*olneytowncouncil*co*uk. It tells you a bit about Olney plus there is a map. I'm not sure about parish registers in Olney itself but Milton Keynes library has registers for Buckinghamshire - more info on www*mkweb.co*uk and go to the library link. I'm told the staff there are very helpful. The site gives opening times but is normal easter closing. Hope this is of some help. Carol

I live not far from Olney. i would describe it as nearer to bedford than Milton keynes though. its a small-ish place, very olde worlde. if you are not too far away it is a nice place to visit. I think Olney comes under Bedfordshire, and guess records would be at Bedford jess

Hi Carol, Thanks for the info. Have just visited the site and found a link to the church. going to send an email to them and ask for some info. going to try the MK library now. The interesting thing that I have discovered through my research is that there are quite a lot of Kitchner's born there at the time I'm interested in, so considering the town is quite small, makes me think that I could possibly be related to quite a lot of them. Cousins of cousins etc. This hobby is so exciting, when you get possible links like this isn't it. Again thanks for your reply Loz:~)

Jess, thanks for your reply. I'll try bedfordshire as well. Even if I do have to go elsewhere for the info I am still going to visit Olney at the beginning of april. That way I can take in the atmosphere of where my ancestors lived. Thanks Loz :~)

Hi Loz Glad to be of help. Have double checked library services and parish registers for Olney is held by MK library. Yes it is exciting. My father's family come from a very very small village in Cambs so everyone whoever lived there with his unusual name is almost undoubtedly a relative. Good hunting Carol

Carol What is the web address for MK lirary please? Jess I googled and most seem to be for B&B Kitchener's but there's also a Kitchener Centre, so am gonna find out what that is. Even if not a family history centre, the name must have some relevance if they've used the name. Goood eh!! Susie Thnaks for info, my kitchener had left Olney by 1784 though and moved to Shoreditch Thanks for all your help on here. Everyone is so helpful, it's great. Loz :~)
