Hi Folks, I wonder if anyone would be able to give me some tips on how to find out more information on an ancestor who was born in USA in 1837. He moved to the UK and married in 1870 in Okehampton. I have the marraige certificate so have his fathers name and occupation. Many Thanks Pauline

Pauline, You could try looking on the US censuses. When did he leave the US? Crista

I dont know when he moved to the UK, only that he was born in the US but I dont which state. He was in the UK for the 1871 census but I cant find him on previous ones. Ive tried the american census to no avail. Is there a way to get birth records for him, I know his fathers name? Thx Pauline
