What does 'U.S.D.' mean?

Ah, that makes sense - all the certificates relate to town addresses rather than countryside ones. Thanks for your help :-) |

I've seen the initials 'USD' on several birth and death certificates underneath the address of the event being recorded. It probably means something really obvious and I'll kick myself when I find out, but I haven't been able to work it out! Can anybody tell me? |
