Thank you so much, all you great people who responded to my distress call. I've done it (I hope!). Can't wait to see if he got it! Mind you I lost the file once on my first attempt. It simply disappeared and I panicked, especially when it wasn't in my bin.(pressed the wrong button!) Managed to find it, import it, then export it. A lesson to me....keep my backup discs up to date. Get a bit lazy as my database backs up automatically. Doesn't allow for hairbrained users!! Jackie

If you dont have a genealogy program you wont be able to open it. If you have, open a new file in that program and click import. Dont add it to your existing file as it may overwrite what you already have Margaret

Desperate maiden in distress! No idea how to do this. I have been sent a GEDcom file. Tried opening it, but won't, so tried saving it. Won't save to my desktop so saved it to my docs. however, it isn't there. It's on Micrsoft Frontpage (whatever that is) but still can't open it. Please can someone who understands computers help me to open this file. To make things worse, the sender has asked me for mine. If I tell him I don't know how, how will I have any credibility? PLEASE HELP!!! Jackie
