Hi there, I have a query? When you are doing a LDS search of the IGI and find the one you are looking for and then want to find if any other children were born in to the family how do you do it? I have tried various ways but no luck so far. Please has anyone any ideas, finding it time consuming to look at every name on the list. Regards, Anne-Marie

Anne-Marie, Put a * in for the first name, fill in the last name, fill in the mother and father's first names and then you can reduce the search by adding the county and a year range. If it fails the first time, quickly try it again and it should work. Crista

Hugh Wallis has compiled a list of batch numbers so that if you are looking for say a marriage in Morecambe or a baptism in Bolton, you can find the right list. THE ACCURACY OF THE ACTUAL LIST OF NAMES HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HUGH OR WITH THE LDS. It is compiled from parish registers and as with all 2nd or 3rd hand info should be checked where possible with the original registers, which will be in the County Records Offices. From my own experience, I have found some omissions, for example the baptism registers for Farnham Royal are only girls, no boys. There are errors in the way names are recorded, but they may well be errors that were made in the original record. And as anyone who has done family research for a while will be able to tell you, mistakes can occur anywhere - on certificates, in registers, on census returns, on the electoral roll, in street directories... Records are made by people and people make mistakes. nell

A BIG THANK YOU :) To everyone that answered my query. I will try all your suggestions. Also pleased that my query helped you Jenny. I am always finding useful info on this site. I also have found Hugh Wallis batch numbers to be of great help, yet I only discovered the other day that they also covered Scotland and Ireland. Thanks, Anne-Marie
