I recall there being a lot of hassle when this site started up. Now that it has been running a while, what do people think of it? I have registered on the site but I haven't paid any money yet because I still have credits left on 1837. When these run out in April, I shall have to decide whether to continue with 1837 or switch to Family Relatives. Does anyone have any views on this, please? Jill

I think the period 1866-1920 on familyrellies is brilliant. As Ive said, you can be so explicit in your choice. I did a blanket search of all rellies of one name in that period for b,m and d in London and it cost me just 18 units for about 200names and refs.

I signed up for familyrelatives today received their confirmation e-mail and have tried, unsuccessfully, all day to actually log into anything other than the home page. I mailed them about the problem, they told me to download IE6 which I've had on my system now for as long as it's been available and I always update regularly. I think they need to sort it out otherwise they'll not earn any money. I can't buy credits and I probably am not the only one. However, I would like to get into the site just to see what they have on offer. Good luck if you decide to sign up, be interested to hear whether you're able to get in there. Jan

I have to say I had a terrible time a couple of weeks ago getting the site to work properly and must have emailed them at least 20 times - mind you I ended up getting about 90 units free as a sorry! Now its working its great well the 1866-1920 is. The rest I dont think is terrific until they have it sorted more. When the 1837-66 period is done it will be absolutely brill. The address Bernice is familyrelatives.org

Oh Heather, sounds like there's hope yet then. I'll keep plugging away. Not very encouraging though I have to say when there's trouble at the start. J

I know it drove me b****** mad the first week. Id get on for a day then off 2. Then they kept sending me passwords when the first one was ok. B***** madness. But when it works its a dream. I guess its only what 3 weeks old now, so things will improve. I have to say though Im switching between the two sites at the mo.

That's what I've been reading too and why I would love to be able to get in there. After all that's what we're all doing this for, to find our rellies and mine are hiding at the moment. I'll definitely keep trying. J

Sorry Jill, we appear to have taken over your thread. Hope you get lucky straightaway with the site. Jan

Don't worry - you haven't taken over the thread at all. I've been waiting to see what the concensus was! I shall wait until my 1837 credits run out I think. Hopefully, by that time, they might have sorted themselves out. I must admit, the ability to search the indexes is mighty appealing. Thank you all very much indeed for your input - very much appreciated. Best wishes, Jill
