army census records c1800s

At least you know he is at Woolwich Barracks! I just put my guys name in and he came up in Wellington Barracks, I didnt try anything special and it listed all the soldiers supposedly in there that night. (In actual fact I also found him 2 miles down the road in a lodging house with his lady friend the same census night!)

Hi Brenda Re Barracks Census. You need to look up the registation district index of the area where the barracks was situated. This is usually at the end of the index along with institutions and the like. That should relate to the fiche number you would require to look up the appropriate census page(s). With regards to overseas I'm not certain what the procedure is. You could find some information of this person from his service records which are held at Kew records office in London, but you would need to know what regiment he was in. Hope this helps. Can anyone tell me where army barrack census info is kept, and if they are serving abroad at the time ie India c1850s, where would the records be located?
