marion, i have been looking through some of my ancesters death certs for 1860-1865 and 2 had diptheria (croup) and 1 scarlet fever all of these were children. in the lanark area

Hi Marion Yes there was a cholera epidemic and not just in Scotland - just key into google - there's lots of info on there. Just realised why 2 of mine may have died so young now - both 1866! Debby

I dont know about Scotland but certainly in London I seem to have lost a huge amount of people due to typhoid in the 1860's.

Just found out yesterday I have siblings all died 1866 one in Feb aged 33, one in April aged 23, one June age 28. There was another died aged 10 in 1851. Maybe it was an illness in the family. I will now have find out what happened to them. I will check out their death cert's. I only started this for a bit of fun, now I am hooked like the rest of you lol Thank's Marion
