The IGI groups it with Bethany, but it appears much commoner in the US than in this country.

Hi Marion! I love this sort of thing. I have never heard of Bathenia before. I have been yahoo searching, and based on it I have found: I haven't been able to find Bathenia, but rather Bethania. Bathenia was a city in the Bible, where Lazarus, Mary and Martha lived and where Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead. There is a baby name Bethania, which may be a variation of it. If so, Bethania is actually a Spanish form of Bethany. Hope this is interesting for it, though probably not any help! Katrina xx
