can't find grandfather!!!!!

Mary brings up a very good point - I found this on the CWGC site, age is a little out though: Name: PUGH, ALFRED Initials: A Nationality: United Kingdom Rank: Private Regiment: King's Own Royal Regiment (Lancaster) Unit Text: 1st Bn. Age: 23 Date of Death: 12/06/1942 Service No: 3712922 Additional information: Son of Alfred and Emma Pugh, of Liverpool, England. If your grandfather was born in 1912, he would have certainly been called up for active service in ww2. I think that I would try the War Office as he may have been killed in the war. Mary

The GRO indices would be most helpful to you. There's a death index 1984-2002 on Ancestry, if you give us the name and rough area (if a popular name), we're more than happy to see if he's on there.

i wonder if anyone could tell me how to locate a death certificate or even find out if he is dead. grandfather born 1912, left nan, was still alive in 1940, my dad and his twin were adopted, would love to locate or find out more about alfred pugh. please help if you can. sam
