Hi, Matt, Still trying to trace this one back. At 75 Mary seems too old to be Williams mother , so thinking she may be Mary Ann Allens mother and this could be 2nd/3rd marriage for her as not traced any as yet so still trying that one. Looks like a case of keep looking and mugging the postie every day until the long awaited cert arrives, which may make things fall into place. Hopefully!! Thanks to all. Joan

You don't say, Joan, if John William Ozyer has been found on any censuses, which should give birth place and any family, or if the spelling is always strictly adhered to. Have you searched under Osier etc?

thanks for the replies. Yes it was the marriage cert signed by William Harper. No Mother mentioned for my J.W.O. It does seem as though wait and see is the order of the day. Just wish it was here today. Thanks again, Joan

Joan, Was the Mother's name given? ... I'm thinking that maybe his mother wasn't married, but that Mr Harper was honest about being the father? Jane

Great grandfather, John William Ozyer marries Mary Ann Smith, Right ones , i know that much. No b.c yet as there's only a william Ozyer born Ludlow in 1860 (am waiting for this one to arrive) and John william in 1868 in Leeds but this makes him 8 years too young (so did hum and har before deciding on the earlier one). G,Grandfathers certificate is signed William Harper as his Father. Does this mean that i've got it wrong or could this have been a stepfather. Please, your thoughts. Joan
