Louise, I have been right through the Newark pictures, almost 500 of them, and can't really see one of Water Lane, but I still remember you are looking for one! Elisabeth x

I'm very pleased you are finding it interesting. I only found it by picking up a leaflet in the library yesterday. I spent far too much time last night, looking through all the towns and villages I know well. It is fascinating to see those old views.

What an excellent site Elisabeth. I've got some rellies who came from Derbyshire so I'll be having a good look later.

For pictures, old and new, of towns and villages in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire take a look at www.picturethepast.org.uk There are some wonderful old pictures of long gone buildings, streets and alleyways. Almost every small village and hamlet is covered.
