hi jill, researching scotland myself and found this on FREE!!!' www.scotsorigins.com i found this pretty good as i have found a fair few on my ancestors on it. www.scottish documents.com this site is good to find out if your ancestors left wills. type in there name and addresses pop up, if they have left anything. www.ancestralscotland.com provides surnames, place names, parish names i hope you have some luck finding any relations in scotland, it may be small but finding them it's hard lynn

Thanks for all the advice. Rosalyn, how do I get in to the who are we searching in scotland thread???? Leslie Harris, what a great idea. I am originally from that sort of area but havent been back for a couple of years. I must make more of an effort and do some of my searching in person. Thanks again everybody. Jill

I agree that visiting places is great but if you are as impatient as me, you might not be able to wait that long! In the meantime, try some of the links from the GENUKI website. I found some of my ancestors on the 1851 census this way as part of the Dumfries records have been put on line. Just play about and visit a few sites for the places you have links to. You might get lucky. Louise

Jill, The best thing to do is have weeks holiday in Edinburgh, visit all the sights and go to New Register House and do your own research. It is much more fun and you'll see amarvellous city. Best not to do it in the height of summer though, as NRH is full to bursting with our overseas cousins at this time. Les

As all of my ancestors are Scottish, can anyone suggest any good websites I could use? I have hit a bit of a brick wall in my search. I have been using familysearch.org and scotlandspeople.gov.uk with great success until now. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jill in Sussex.
