yet again i've managed to reeeeeally confuse myself! i'm looking for Henry Machin born abt 1862 and according to the 1901 census in Biddulph, Staffs. So my next step is to find the parents, which i was doing pretty well until i come across a Henry Machin born 1862 in Burslem, Italy. Now for those of you who don't know the Staffs area, Burslem is just outside Stoke-on-Trent, and the last time i looked it was no where near Italy! Can anyone let me know what this means? Cheers, Claire |

It means that it was transcribed by americans with no idea of English geography, along with all the Somerset addresses down as Somalia and the Kent ones down as Kenya. |
