I never bothered. As Sheila says the success rate is quite poor. The Adoption Contact Register through the GRO has a similarly poor success rate. If the person you are looking for is interested enough in being found to have registered with one of the agencies then you should have a reasonable chance of success in tracing them yourself. You'd be better off contacting Joan Allen at myfolks Lou

Hi, I personally never bothered I think I remembered reading an article about the sucess rate and it was quite poor, and as someone said here it only works if the person you are looking for also is registered, think you stand more chance actively searching yourself. Sheila

thought about it. bit of a pay your money and take your chance - don't think they seek out sibs, just hold a contact register i think. Are you looking for a birth parent or an adoptee? Jess

Possibly but I would try other avenues first. If you are looking for intermediaries then there's the Post Adoption Society, there's one in Birmingham called WMPAS who are very helpful or even the Adoption Agency. Have a look on the adoption threads for suggestions regarding trying to find.

Well really its only worth it if the person you are looking for is also looking for you. Good luck
