Hi Darren, My Gt Grandfather was killed in the Battle of the Somme. He was in the Lancashire Fusilliers. I got in touch with the Museum, and they did a search for me. It cost me £15, but they sent me a list of all his movements, from when he joined up to when he died. I also got a photo of him with his comrades, very interesting and well worth the money. Hope this helps. Gail.

Darren I think he was probably killed in the infamous and bloody battle of the Somme which lasted for months. If you go to the National Archives website and click on military history, there's an online WWW1 exhibition you may find useful. I believe the archives also have campaign diaries which were kept by officers which give an ongoing account of events. The regimental museum may also be able to help. nell

Hi all i have recently found a relative(Grt Grt Uncle who was killed on the somme and is comemorated on a memorial in my home town. I have been to the CWGC site and ordered his medal card. What i would like is to find out exactly where his regiment was on the day he was killed. Does anyone know of any sites/books that would set out the battle and regiments involved on specific days. He was in the 1st Btn Norhtumberland Fusiliers and was KIA on15/07/1916. Any help appreciated.
