Hi, as some people have complained about this in one of my many missives to Familyrellies I asked about this problem as I know that you have been unable to email them! Here is their reply - hope it helps. Could you find out from fellow users the following information or forward this email, we are assuming they are existing and not new users is this correct? The time and date that the Session Time out occurred. The operating system you are running e.g. Windows 98, XP, 2000 The type and version of Internet Explorer you are using. e.g Microsoft IE 5.5, 6.0 etc. Exactly the steps that you take to the moment when the system Time out occurs ie when selecting units, press continue etc The greater the information you are able to give us the better we will be able to understand the problem you are experiencing and therefore be of service to you. However we would like to suggest the following if you are not using IE 6: Step 1 - upgrade browser to IE 6 Step 2 - add https://www.familyrelatives.org as a trusted site The first step would be to upgrade your Internet Explorer as the existing version you may have been updated several times due to security issues. Internet Explorer is currently on Version 6. It is recommended that you use the browser version Internet Explorer 6 This can be updated the following way at no cost: go to the link: http://update.microsoft.com this will then take you to the microsoft website. Follow the instructions reading them carefully as it will update any critical security flaws. We suspect that the problem is one of security as we run a high level of encryption usually anything above 128 bit encryption (SSL128) and that requires certain items to be switched on in IE 6. Other than that it could be that the existing IE is not running java or encryption in which case you would not be able to make a payment. If you are using Windows XP the firewall may be active and may not allow you to access parts of our website, therefore this needs to be set up correctly prior to download please visit the microsoft website for further information. See below. Note: If you are running Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) your firewall is turned on automatically. To learn more see, Understanding Windows Firewall. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/security/internet/sp2_wfintro.mspx Adjust your firewall settings http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/security/internet/sp2_wfsettings.mspx We are not suggesting that at any time you switch off your firewall as individual settings can be made, you may choose to make Familyrelatives.org a trusted site. Secondly add https://www.familyrelatives.org as a trusted site. In IE 6 Go to Tools Internet Options Select Security tab Select Trusted Sites Select Sites Add https://www.familyrelatives.org and click OK Once you have done this please try the website again and contact us to let us know if you have been successfull in purchasing units. We would like to apologise for the inconvenience this has caused. Please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any queries regarding the above.

The problem most people have is one day you can use the site, (which I must say is very good) and the next day you time out, we don't change IE or alter our firewall setting, our operating system remains the same so how can any of the above be the answer. Keith

I'm no pooter whizz but I've never had any problems using family rellies and yet I can't access freebmd cos of the firewall on the PC I'm using. Surely if it was the firewall that was the problem I'd have problems with family rellies too? Lou

Well, this is what I told them about my probs too. I have just emailed them again telling the general consensus is the problems are at their end not at our end!
