I'm really thrilled for you. I know how you feel 'cos I've just tracked a second cousin, the only one I'm in contact with from a grandparent's generation of 17 (I'm an only; parents only ones aah!). He was not aware of my side & I've been able to send him pics of his greatgrandparents uncles & aunts etc, & he's sent me current photos etc, etc,etc Great, lets all keep up the good work Jenny

It truly is heart warming and encouraging to read of all your sucesses too. How often do we feel so low when we can't bring that brick wall down? or when we have traced the WRONG family ( months sometimes years of research gone up the ancestral garden path) Much happiness Debi

Debi: Photos and stories? I'm so thrilled for you!!! :~) I somewhat know the feeling. I found a distant cousin on GR and he actually came over on a business trip. It was so exciting to meet him and see pictures of his family! Hope you come across even more family. :~)

Hi Debi Great news so happy for you. I also have had good news after looking on Suffolk surnames I found a name that rang a bell and contacted him he lives in Canada,it turns out that his mother is my grandmothers sister my grandmother died in 1963 and I do not have any photos of her or my grandfather,Keith e-mailed me back to say they have photos of my grandmothers wedding and he will be coming next month and will copy them and bring them when we meet. I did know that my dad was in the army but did not know much about that Keith has told me that my dad was the youngest sargeant major in the army at that time, cant tell you how proud that made me feel now cant wait to send for his army records, cant wait to see Keith. So if any one comes across a name they think may may know get in touch you never know what they can tell you. Hi Debi, That's a lovely story. It's always good when people respond and you come up trumps- makes it all worthwhile! What is the B4 U search site address you mentioned? I know I've used it before but can't seem to find it again. Aileenxx

I know the feeling. I had a gut feeling that a lady I found on the electoral roll was the missig wife of my late grandfather, who we lost contact with when he died in 1984. I sent a letter enclosing a SAE and she wrote straight back. It was her!!! After 20 years not knowing if she was still alive, it turns out she is now 85 and still going strong. I am so pleased that I wrote that letter, you never know unless you do it. Lynne

......................On Tuesday I wrote a letter to a complete stranger after having done a B4U Search on a family name in my tree. I was intrigued as he also had his middle name recorded on the electroal roll. This middle name and his surname were my ggg grandparents names and I had this gut feeling he must be in some way related. Enclosed in the letter was a small family history report of the family and my address, e mail and telephone number. I recieved an e mail this afternoon and then a phone call this evening. It turns out that his father was my grt grandmothers youngest brother thus making him my 1st cousin twice removed. Even better than that has more recent 1st hand stories of my grt grandmother and gg grandfather. They also have photo's they are happy to share with me of my gggg grandfather and are dying to have a big family get together. So I just wanted to say don't be shy about writing to complete strangers or looking up on electoral rolls etc.......IT WORKS in bringing your family tree closer and moving it forwards........Just had to share. MUCH HAPPINESS DEBI
