Gill I use mine all the time, I am 400 miles from my area of research so I order film from LDS and view it there. Depending on which day of the week I attend, I get differing amounts of help! You need to either phone first to book a reader, or if its not too far, the best thing is to drop in first - they will only let you order film in person, which is fair enough. Have an idea of what you want or what help you want. Film costs 2.70 for a month's loan or you can extend this for three months. Microfiche costs 15p a sheet! Personally, I couldnt have got as far as I have without this resource. Give it a try - by the way, they are not allowed to talk to you about their religion, if that worries you. Marjorie

Gill, I've been to my local family history centre several times and have found it to be very helpful. You don't pay to use the facilities-microfiche readers, film readers and computers but pay a small amount for any films of fiche you want to order. They are run by volunteers who have varying amounts of knowledge. The best thing to do is to go,you have nothing to lose and a lot to gain. Hi has anybody visited a family history centre? Could you tell me how useful they are, and what you have to do. Thankyou Gill
