Maiden names!!!

How would i find an aunts maiden name!! shes an aunt by marriage and i cant ask her as i've lost touch with her recently!! any idea's!? thanks

Only way would be to either a) ask your parents? or B) buy the marriage certificate

If you have a rough idea of the year they were married, (doesn't have to be the exact year, search around the time especially if you have an idea of the registration area) you could look up the marriage on FreeBMD using her husband's first and second name, and her first name, and see if a match comes up. Occasionally you'll find two women with the same forename got married in the same area in the same quarter but you may get lucky.

You can search the GRO marriages on fiche at many Record Offices and some main libraries. This is free. It is just possible that she married in a former married name so if her and your uncle had children,double check and look for the child's birth registration which will show mother's maiden name beside the birth entry.
