1871 RG10/1496 Folio 138 page 6 Isaac Collins Head 39 Elizabeth Wife 38 Ernest son 3 George son 2 days (bless!) 1891 RG12/1207 folio 98 p2 Isaac Collins 59 - (on his own) RG12/1215 folio 8 p9 Ernest J 23 Theses go on and have kids that show in Sarah 26 1901 and Isaac pops up as grandfather in 1881 The only trace i can find of anyone remotely likely is RG11/1565 Folio 14 p6 Isaac Joseph and George - George is the correct age 10, Joseph has appeared from no-where and isaac has lost 4 years and not gained 10. SO THEY CANT BE THE RIGHT ONES! tried every combination i can think of any ideas your clever lot jess x

Are the other two Collins families that appear on the same page in 1891 related to your family? Just wondered if it was worth looking for these families in 1881 in case any of your lot were staying with their rellies.

I think the family you have found in 1881 is probably the right one. Hannington is only a small village on any of the Census, 8 pages in 1881. There is no other Isaac in 1871 or 1891 that was born in the area. As for Joseph appearing suddenly, what if Earnest was always known by his middle name Job. Perhaps the enumerator heard Joe and wrote down Joseph....

I agree it does look like they are the same family, they did have a habit of using their 2nd names as well. not forgetting the lost or gain of a number of years. Irene

I have the others in the village recorded, they are close to fitting, so will keep them close by, i'm just not quite convinced. Joe/Job/Joseph i agree can easily be misheard. have got to go out now, will have to look into it again later many thanks jess
