Just thought I would add this as it may help someone. I was searching for info (birth) of an ancestor born prior to statutory records and without sucess. The name I was looking for was on her marriage certificate which led me to believe no problems. After searching for ages I just thought I would try a search using her mothers maiden name and found her right away. You all probably already know this and therefore I apologise in advance for repeating it. Gordon |

I was looking on Family search for the name I wanted -or thought I wanted- I had tried lots of other sites. I suppose I was lucky in finding the marriage of her parents which in turn gave me her mothers maiden name. Being the thicko that I am and about to appeal for help from you lovely people, I think in either boredom or sheer frustration that I entered the mothers name. I can assure you it was not genius on my part. I was amazed when it came up which gave me the lead to confirm the event. I suspect that had I asked for help on here someone would have told me to try this and saved me hours of work. Gordon |
