I'm trying to find out when my gg grandfather enlisted, and retired. He was an army pensioner by 1886 up until his death in 1922. He appears on the 1861 aged 18 at Colchester Barracks. I've tried to use procat but I have no idea what I'm doing. Can anyone give me tips on the documents I'll need to order if I ever get to Kew? I know the regiment he was in for a fair while, the 16th Regiment/Bedfordshire Regiment (changed name after 1881). Please help!!! |

Chloe Try reading the Nat Archives info on military history first: www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/militaryhistory/ if you are still stuck, e-mail them, they are very helpful. nell |
