It will probably be a single certificate, but the secondary reference is to the correction/update. That means you can search under either name. My great uncle was initially regsitered as Edwin Vincent Russell Christmas, but then that ws changed (possibly at baptism) to Edwin Cecil Russell Christmas. The revised name was put in the last column and both names are given references which are very close to one another - 124a & 125 or something like that. Christine

That is possable, if the birth was regesterd twice by different people, they could have given the different surnames. Bev

I believe my relative is registered twice under 2 surnames. The German family name did change from Bumb to Boom at some stage and she has shown up with references under each name that are very similar (4A 150 and 4A 150a)!!! Has anyone else had a similar situation? At first I thought they were different children as names in the family have replicated all over the show but I'm convinced they are one and the same. Would there be 2 birth certs.? Thanks Aileen x
