Thanks Sue Yes I have used historical directories - they are brilliant found my 4 x g grandfather shop in Ashby-de-Zouch in 1841. Unfortunately I couldnt see a kelly's for birmingham covering 1891 - the year I'm keen to look up. Good luck with your searching! Karen

A lot of my ancestors came from all around there. Cheapside still exists today so look on multimap(.)com to find it exactly. It is right next to the city centre so think it has shops. Look on historicaldirectories.org to find old Kelly's etc. I eventually went on their the other night and was over the moon to find my great-great-grandfather's glass shop in nearby Sherlock Street. Anyone out there know Aston, Birmingham - can they tell me if Cheapside were/are shops are just residential - trying to find out more info on my rellies - could have had a shop. Thanks Karen
