How do I find out whether my grandfather was in World War 1? He was of the right age.

No other relatives to tell you anything? I guess you could go to the National Archives website and check out the medal cards index there. But if he has a common name it may be a problem. Good luck.

there is no simple way to do this unless some one in the family has a bit of untaped knolage. There are a few ways to head, lacking any other info apart from name and age. first try to find his medal card via Kew, this will give you his service number, from there you can get his service record. also try puting his name in to the London gazette, (www.gazette-online.*co.*uk) remove * you could also try the research dept of the Army museum. (you can find that via the MOD site.)
