If it's a marriage you are looking for and you have a good idea of the date, I could have a look for the reference for you on 1837online, which just gives the reference numbers to allow you to purchase the certificate. You would have to give the name and area. If you don't want to buy the certificate, then the reference numbers won't help you. Kath. x

1880 might be a bit late for LDS and not all parishes are there either.

Doh! How daft am I Kathleen (mind I feel 100 right now with all this stress/frustration!) . the actual date I really wanted was1880 so it should have been there. It was a marriage.

Ann The LDS site has 3 main sources of info 1881 census Ancestral files - people have added these and they are not reliable IGI = international genealogical index, taken from births and marriages registers though there are a few deaths too. Not every parish is covered and not every date either. If you google "Hugh Wallis Batch numbers" you should find a site where you can choose the county then the town/parish you want and it will give you a batch number. C numbers are baptisms and M numbers are marriages. Besides the number it will tell you which dates are covered. You can click on the batch number of interest and then put in a surname if you want in the search box. Press search and it will take you to the list directly. My experience is that LDS is fairly good for late 1700s up to mid 1800s. Norfolk and Warwickshire aren't covered at all well. nell

Hi Ann Depends who you are looking for. You won't appear as most records are from early 1800's and I'm sure you are not that old! It has the 1881 census mainly, also the IGI which covers parish records but is far from complete and again, most are from early 1800's. Are you looking for people that are born after 1881 and won;t be on the census? Sam

I think the LDS site is mainly for pre-1900 names and events, so you are not likely to find yourself. Kath. x
