My great uncle was legally adopted by his grandparents (long story) about 1934 in N Ireland. I want to find out who his mother was. I believe (he doesn't talk about it really) that he has had trouble in accessing the records a while ago. Are these accessible to the public yet? If so, are they only available to look at at PRONI? Chloe Not sure how NI works but if its in line with the UK on procedures around adoption then no, they're not available to the public at the moment. Only the adopted person and the adoptive parents can access the records Lou

Poo!! I only want a name! Possibly to confirm who his father was. Do you when it will be available? When are UK records open to the public?
