My twin also has the time of birth on aswell, so she is the oldest and I am the youngest both with the times of birth on..this was in 1958.. Angie |

Dear Amanda This happened to me in my research, the time was recorded on my grandfathers certificate, I was unaware of him having been born a twin. But the registrar rang me before issuing the certificate and explained it meant he was a twin and offered to look up the other one. In the end i got both certs. lol shirley |

I am a twin and was born 20 minutes after my sister, and the time is registered on my certificate. I dont know if it is registered on my sisters I will try and find out. Angie |

Just read the thread. So the eldest child would of been my gt gt aunt as she had the time and as I cant find another birth but perhaps there is a death record somewhere on Ascension then the baby could of been stillborn? Esthers mother was only 15 when she had her and a very tiny lady.I know we dont know most of the people in our trees but its so sad when you think the was a child no one talked about. I think of it as when we do find these things out its like we are coming bringing them back home |

I had orignally thought it was because her father was in the Royal Navy on Ascension so they did all official and thought nothing of it until I found the 'see deaths' addition. |

Amanda I think some registrars always put a time on birth certs, so it isn't necessarily proof of a twin. nell |

I have an original birth cert. of my gt gt aunt Esther Ann Knott born Asension Island May 25th 1878. On it her birth is given as 11pm. I thought this may point to her being a twin though no one in the family had heard of this. I checked on 1837online overseas records and found her index number but beside it was 'see deaths'. She came back to this country and died in the 1950's so I know it wasnt her and when I checked the deaths for 1878, Ascension, it had a Stephen Knott aged 34 , obviously not her twin or father. Would it be worth sending for an overseas death on the date she was born with only a surname? I have been trying to get a reply from the Island for two and a half years but get nothing. Any suggestions? |
