Hi, I understand it to mean that the child was baptised privately, then received into church at a later date. Paula x

If the recieved into church date is much later than the baptism date, then it could mean the child was confirmed. Gaynor

If you are baptised in the rites of one denomination but wish to become a member of another (e.g. Roman Catholic to Church of England or v.v.), then you may be Received into that church - no second Baptism because that would be heretical. Christine
