HI, I am clutching at straws. I was lucky enough to find the birth of my gt grandmother in Hants Aldershot because her Irish corporal father was there at the army camp. I found a birth in Berwick of a girl 2 years after my rellie with a father of the same name, so that's why I am wondering if there might be another army camp there.????????? thanks

I googled "Berwick Army Camp" and found a few sites, so I guess the answer is yes. nell

Think the Kings Own Scottish Borderers have always been based at Berwick, worth looking for them to find out about the base. Shaun

Try a web search for BERWICK BARRACKS, you will get more matches including the KOSB who have their regimental museum there. Also http://www.berwick.*org.uk/berwick/barracks.htm Also http://www.keystothepast.info/durhamcc/K2P.nsf/K2PResults?readform&FT=berwick+barracks Martin

Yes I've got 2 soldiers from the 71st Regiment of Foot in the 1840/50's there. The first one's marriage seems to have been an irregular one ie Lamberton Toll in 1847 Can't find his daughter's birth though even though on a census she says she was born in Berwick upon Tweed.
