He could always have decided to change his middle name from the one he was registered with/his parents could have done this. It's not illegal. nell

The J on the index could be a mistranscription. My ggrandmother is down as Florence I I Bibb when the II is actually a H for her middle initial. You need to get the birth certificate to see what the J stands for or whether it should actually be an R for Robert Lou

Am I right in thinking you didn't need to prove who you were when you marry? Perhaps he thought his middle name was Robert, but he was actually registered with a different middle name?

Then it's probably the Islington one. Durham is way way way up north.

Islington is nearer Hackney than Durham. You should have his father's name on the marriage cert - can you find his birth, or does his occupation give a clue as to where he might have come from? nell

Who told you he was born in London? What if he moved there as a baby, that would be all he had known and siblings would think they had all been born there. The dates on 1837 or bmd are the dates a birth is registered, not when someone was born. The first quarter of a year may relate to a birth in the last quarter of a previous year. If you have the marriage cert, you must have his fathers name too. In that case, you may have to take a chance on sending for the birth certificate to see if they match.

Hi ive been searching births all day, ive been looking for the b/cert for my husband's dad PETER ROBERT WORKER...ive been on 1837 online, we have been told he was from london and that he was born 1943-1944 however the only 2 births i can find is PETER R WORKER born durham 1944 and a PETER J WORKER born islington 1945, i found the marriage cert for peter r worker to my mother-in-law which was in hackney 1968, i did have a message from someone off here saying he believes it is his brother who he hasnt seen for 40 years and this person was born in 1936 in islington, sadly he never returned my message, so which one it is i dont know,on my husbands b/cert it says father peter robert worker...im just getting really confused lol kim xxx
