Latter Day Saints site (FamilySearch.org) has an IGI search facility (International Gene....cal Index). It can be painfull searching by county - found this site which makes it a lot more simple to locate the parish and search the relevant B, M or D register directly via the uploaded microfilm batches... http://freepages*genealogy*rootsweb.com/ percentageSign7Ehughwallis/IGIBatchNumbers/CountyEssex.htm' Replace * with '.' etc and 'percentageSign' is the symbol on your keyboard ! - substitute your County in the URL where I have Essex. Hope this helps, LD

Try this way:- freepages*genealogy*rootsweb.com -slash- PERCENTSIGN7Ehughwallis -slash- IGIBatchNumbers -slash- CountryEngland*htm#PageTitle Prefix with (http://) , replace -slash- with //, asterisk with a dot and join it all up ! What a palaver !

cheers Sam - guess it was the '%7E' in front of hughwallis that was acting as an escape character. How did you get the TILDA idea ?

Just type IGI batch numbers in your search box, takes you to the Hugh Wallis site, easier than remembering long URLs! Good idea to try looking at this site anyway, as it lets you see just how incomplete the record coverage actually is, as some people seem to think they should find EVERYONE on the IGI. some hopes!! If you are finding it difficult to type in the addresses, just google "Hugh Wallis batch" and it will take you there. Saves a lot of bother if you find the church you want doesn't have any records on IGI after 1837 etc. nell
