Census enumerators sometimes made spelling, writing errors and even in same family, names were spelt diffently. Transcribers sometimes have to make a guess. BUT is there any excuse for us? Just check the name (for example) ARTHUR with any of your surnames. I am just going to check my entries!! Jane |
