Hi. I am trying to search the family (with no luck whatsoever) of my elusive Charles Henry Jones and wondered if there was anyway of searching who lived in a house in 1917? He listed 172 Cuthbert Bank Road in Sheffield as his address in this year when he married but he just put a line through the box where the fathers name should have gone so have no idea who his dad is. Did they have electoral rolls then? Any help will be greatly received. Regards, Claire |

Yes, they had electorals registers in those days. The local records office should have them. |

Claire Info about electoral registers will be found on the home page of this website - scroll down to genealogical resources, click getting started and you will find it. I'm not sure if there was one in 1917 as there was a war on. If there is no father named on the birth cert, there may not have been a father living with the family, but I can see that you would like to explore the possibilities. nell |

Thanks for the tips. Knowing my luck with this guy there wont be one in that year, lol. According to my nan (CHJ's) daughter, he fell out with his parents as they thought he was marrying beneath him. Regards, Claire |
