I know that we won't be given any details, but have been told it could be possible to have a letter put on her file so at least she will know that her birth relatives are trying to find her

Janette, I have written to the National children's adoption association and am waiting for a reply. I am hoping this is the agency my husband's sister was adopted through fingers crossed!! Thanks for your help

I don't know if this will be of any help, but my Partner was adopted through the National Childrens Adoption Association in Knightsbridge - it could be the same place. I know it's been closed for some time and the records we got from there are practically non-existent (we had to go through Social Services). But we managed to get the name of his birth mother and subsequently a copy of his 'first' Birth Certificate. Best of luck. Jan

Hi Jennifer, Each agency varies with what it is prepared to do, but they should allow you to put a letter with her records, in some cases they will agree to try and trace her and forward on a letter but this is only if you have a good reason and after a meeting of all the adoption workers (and once again this varies from ageny to agency, so you need to speak with them and see what their policies are). Also check out the following sites. www.myfolks(.)co.uk www.missing-you(.)net www.lookupuk(.)com Remove the bracket before you type in the web.sites, you can post and read messages on these from both adoptees and their birth families. Good Luck with you search. Sheila

Hi Jennifer, Try contacting the local Social Services to see if they have a record of which agency actually handled the adoption, normally they have to make an assesment of the adoptive parents before the adoption goes through even if it private, so hopefully they can tell you. Regards Sheila

Hi, can anyone help me. I am trying to trace my husband's sister who was adopted at birth. All I know is that she was adopted through an agency in Knightsbridge, London and it was something to do with the Church of England. This was in 1962. I have written to the Children's Society but they don't have any record of her. Would really be grateful for any help as this seems to be our only option as we don't know her adopted name. Thank you.
