Only just getting to grips with this site, when results are listed does the district col. mean where they were born or the area they have died, Thanks Elaine |

Elaine, It's the district where the event was registered. So if you're looking at deaths, it's where the death was registered. Crista |

And until recently the death had to registered in the district where the death took place. |

Yes, I've been caught out by not finding people where they should be. My great grandfather died in Finchley North London, but because he was buried in Norfolk that's where I was looking for his death registration. Didn't help that he was called John Gray! Similarly, though I was brought up in Sanderstead, South Croydon, I was registered in Redhill because my mum had me in the maternity hospital there. nell |
