Yes, I've added the GRO numbers to my records too, just incase the original cert gets damaged/lost. nell

Good idea - also means that they have a head-start if they want to get their own copy & haven't yet. Christine

I just had a lightbulb go off this morning, to those of you ordering in certs online, you probably noticed they mail back the application form with all the relevant index details. From now own when as I get these certs I will be adding the Ref numbers into my GEDCOM in the notes dept, so others can instantly check and see if anybody is an exact match.
