Medical Records- where do they go????????

I did find an advice guide a while ago for doctors saying that they should keep them for about 15 years and that whether they then destroyed them or kept them longer was their choice. nell

If you mean hospital Records, they are only kept for a certain number of years. Can't remember off the top of my head, but l do know Obstetric Records are only kept for 25 years and then destroyed

Hi, i think they just go back to your local medical records office, they are in the phone book, give them a ring and they will tell you for sure, Lynne

I never thought about this until my uncle mentioned it to me. We are trying to find out about my G Gran, but not having much luck. We wondered where her records would be and whether we could look at them.

I expect they go into the archives of the surgery/hospital etc Good question ! One I had never thought of.
