I checked several BMD data bases including the Yorkshire BMD but no luck. It's likely it hasn't been transcribed yet.

I had the same problem with my grandparents. FRC showed no trace of marriage cert or death certs. It then emerged they had married and grandad had died abroad which has caused me all sorts of probs. Suggest you try asking the family if they were abroad at some point. Marilyn

I have searched everywhere for my Grandads birth, Hes name was ROBERT HENRY COCKFIELD (Born YORKSHIRE in NOV 1906) I know he lost his arm in WWII but also cant find any records that he was actually there, or that he actually married my Nan (MARGARET SMART) in the 1960s. He also went to University in florida to study Ostepathy and had a clinic in Harley Sreet, London in the 1960s. Ive managed to get my nans side of the family back to 1818 but am getting nowhere with my grandad.

It is possible that their births were not registered. I can help you look if you give me some info.

Iv just started my tree, and i am already wanting to give up! I can't seem to find any evidence of my ancestors ever being born! Is it possible that their births weren't registered? I have searched loads of sites, been to The Family Records Centre, and still nothing! Could anyone give me some advice? Thanks Genni
