Alice As Kate says if you try using the county he was living in as the keyword it should cut the choices down. I tried that with mine and it cut it by over half! Lou

Advance search doesn't really search the wills any better than the normal will search, it will just search other archives as well if you leave the ticks in. If you just type in "Joseph Adams" in the name on advance search and leave all the ticks, it will still find 47 wills plus some WWI and WW2 stuff which I don't think will be much use to you. If you don't want to look through all 47 (and 47 doesn't seem that much to me as I have ancestors called Joseph Brown, Jane Brown, etc.) then try putting something in the "place" or "keyword" or the date range, but you can just as well do this on the normal will search.

My search returned loads of matches so I tried advance search - no matches. I think I am doing something wrong! The man's name was Joseph Adams! So do I take ticks out of the boxes in advance search or leave them in only the ones I'm interested in? Feeling decidedly unbright! Alice
